14-19 May 2006 - International Workshop on Universal Values for Youth 2006
It was held at the International Youth Center, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and was attended by 60 youth leaders from hole ASEAN region.
The workshop focused on the importance of universal values, which can be inculcated in development programs, by professionals or youth leaders. There were keynote papers, workshop, country report and institutional visit.
The program was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia.
18 May 2006 - 15th National Secretaries Meeting Of CAYC 2006.
The 15th National Secretary Meeting of CAYC was held in conjunction with the International Workshop on Universal Values for Youth Leaders 2006, at the International Youth Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Election of the new committee member for Session 2006-2008 was done.
27 May 2006 - Youth Development Course
The course was organised by the Ministry of Youth & Sports and was held at the Seri Malaysia Hotel, Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Mr Sobri Ahmad, Secretary General of CAYC was attended to give a motivational speech to 50 young leaders from Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.
29 - 30 May 2006 - The Malay and Islamic World Convention
The convention was held in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia as continuation efforts to upkeep the Malay culture and customs, inline with the Islamic law.
Mr. Sobri Ahmad, Secretary General of CAYC was a keynote speaker on “Building the Excellence for Young Generations: Threats and Opportunities in the Globalization Era”
It was officiated by the Perak Chief Minister, Dato’ Seri Tajol Rosli Ghazali and it was attended by 400 participants from Brunei D.S, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, China, Singapore and Indonesia.
15 June 2006 - Humanitarian Mission at DKI Yogjakarta
A humanitarian mission was sent to Yogjakarta, after the province was hit by earthquake. The CAYC Secretariat joint-mission was led by The Right Honorable Dato’ Seri Ali Rustam, the President of World Assembly of Youth (WAY).
During the visit, a meeting with Bapak Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, Governor for DKI Yogjakarta Province was held at Gedung Jene. Besides that, the delegation was also brought around the affected area and Sanjito Hospital.
18 - 21 June 2006 - Melaka International Youth Dialogue 2006
The 6th Melaka International Youth Dialogue (MIYD) has been held at the Melaka Water City Resort. The selected theme for the dialogue was “Developing Human Capital” The theme included dialogues on education, training and capacity building of young people; so that they become more valuable human resources to their countries.
More than 150 participants from different parts of the world attended the MIYD. The ceremony was then preceded with the speech from Secretary General of CAYC, Mr. Sobri Ahmad.
23 - 25 June 2006 - Award Presentation
The Treasurer of CAYC, Pengiran Suhaimi Wahid was bestowed with the highest Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) Award, by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, The Right Honorable Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Abdul Razak; in recognition to his contribution towards youth developments in the region.
The award presentation was done during the Annual General Assembly of MYC held in Perak, Malaysia.
23-27 July 2006 - Humanitarian Mission at DKI Yogjakarta 2
The 2nd CAYC Secretariat humanitarian joint-mission was led by The Right Honorable Dato’ Seri Mohd Khir Toyo, President of Asia Youth Council (AYC), with cooperation from Komite Nasional Pemuda Indonesia.
2 – 3 Sept. 2006 - Workshop for Volunteers
The program was held at the International Youth Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with collaboration of Malaysian Youth Council and was participated by 40 volunteers.
The main objective of the program was to accommodate theoretical and practical knowledge to the participants and to develop a youth working system, based on the youth inspiration, community and country.
10 -16 Sept. 2006 - Workshop on the Advancement Of Professionalism in Youth Work
The workshop was held at the International Youth Centre, Kuala Lumpur with collaboration of CAYC, Asian Youth Council, Malaysian Youth Council and Ministry of Youth & Sports Malaysia.
The theme was “Improving Youth Work Professionally”. The purpose was to explore and confront issues on professionalism of youth work, which need the collaborative network and sharing of experience and ideas for great achievements in this field.
35 participants from ASEAN countries took part in the program and 5 paper presentations, which range from defining volunteerism to enhancement of youth work in one’s country, were presented. There was also field placement according to groups for practical experience.
10-15 Sept. 2006 - Tun Hussein Onn Renewal Award (THORA)
CAYC Secretariat participated in program which focused on Universal Values and Wisdom of Ages organized by the Malaysian Institute of Management; based on the values showed by the 3rd Prime Minister of Malaysia, the late Hon. Tun Hussein Onn bin Dato’ Onn, who is also remembered as the Father of Unity.
The program was jointly organized with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Germany at the Flamingo Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is an open program for all ASEAN member countries.
11 - 14 Oct. 2006 - Asian Youth Forum 2006
The forum was held in Batam – Indonesia by the Asia Youth Council. More than 118 participants from 25 countries joined the forum and came up with the Batam Resolution, which focused on strategies for youth organizations to achieve the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) set by the United Nation.
CAYC Chairman, Mr. Richard Alvin Nalupta was one of the key paper presenters and four CAYC Volunteers took part in the forum.
14 Nov. 2006 - Open Forum – “Universal Values for ASEAN Youth”
The Open Forum was held at the Legend Hotel, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. It was held in conjunction with the 13th ASEAN Youth Day Meeting.Three youth leaders from Philippines, Singapore and Asia Youth Council presented their paper on “Universal Values for ASEAN Youth”. 200 young leaders participated in the forum.
The outcome of the forum is the ‘Kuala Lumpur Pledge’, which was recited by all participants witnessed by government officials and the ASEAN Secretariat.
23 - 26 Nov. 2006 - ASEAN TAYO Award 2006
The National Youth Commission of Philippines and Committee for ASEAN Youth Cooperation organized the ASEAN TAYO Program & Award (Ten Accomplished Youth Organization).
It is a regionwide search for Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations in the ASEAN. An award and recognition program is executed for outstanding youth and youth serving organizations in the ASEAN member countries.
The ASEAN TAYO Awards were granted to youth organizations that have undertaken sustainable programs, projects and activities that may be replicated by other organizations.
3 –10 Dec. 2006 - Symposium on Developing Young Volunteers
The symposium was a program organized by the International Youth Centre, with the cooperation of the Malaysian Youth Council, CAYC and Asian Youth Council, held at the International Youth Centre.
The theme was “Repositioning Volunteerism Among Young People’. The purpose was to identify strategies on mobilizing the resources from the pool of young volunteers, explore ways for their development and formulate a framework for their volunteer service.
There were paper presentations, agency reports, panel discussion/ forum and attendance of 50 participants (3 from each country).
